Courier New Font

Courier New Font

Courier New Font is an unispaced slab serif typeface that was developed by Howard “Bud” Kettler who was born in 1919 and died in 1999. It was created for IBM typewriters but is now used for computers as a font and can be found in almost every computer. IBM did not seek to trademark the Courier and the design as well as the concept is open source.

Some of the sources reveal that Adrian Frutiger worked with IBM to develop the newer Selectric typewriters while Paul Shaw has hinted that people might have mistaken the version that was designed by him for the Univers typeface to be used with this system.

In addition, there has been controversy regarding the time when the Courier first came into the market; it could have been in either the year 1955 or 1956 as the possible time of the release of the Courier typeface design.
