Bricolage Grotesque Font designed by Mathieu Triay, is a unique font that combines a range of historical sources, technical decisions, and personal feelings. Originally based on the open-source Mayenne Sans font by Jérémy Landes, Bricolage Grotesque has since evolved to incorporate cues from both French and British sources.
The compressed weights of the font convey an anxious and wonky tone reminiscent of the Grotesque Nº9 font, while the regular weights convey a relaxed and confident attitude similar to that of Antique Olive. The smaller optical sizes of Bricolage Grotesque are more neutral and reflect contemporary sans serifs, with exaggerated ink traps that add to its unique character.
