
Tahoma Font was created by Matthew Carter for Microsoft Corporation and it belongs to the Modernist Sans Serif style typefaces series; it was released alongside Verdana as the default font with Windows 95. It has been compared to Fruiter another humanistic sans-serif typeface of Carter; in an interview with Daniel Will-Harris, Carter revealed that it has something in common with Bell Centennial which it supplanted.
Tahoma font was present with Office 97, Office 2000, and Office XP; Word Viewer 97 provided a free-of-charge download. Tahoma has been used as the default screen font for operating systems like Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003 and is the replacement of MS Sans Serif and Skype also it is used in the packaging and promotional material of Sega Dreamcast.
