Lato Font is a type of sans serif font that was first created by the Warsaw-based designer Lukasz Dziedzic in 2010 concerning its name, ‘Lato’ meaning ‘Summer’. This was done when his venture, the ‘tyPoland’, made Lato available under the Open Font License later in the same month with Google’s help.
Observing trends in the projects that were realized with Lukasz during the last ten years, one can state that most of his designs were aimed at solving one specific problem or addressing one particular difficulty. Much like Lato – initially created as business fonts that were to be used by an influential client, only to evolve into a new typographical look and subsequently be made available to the general public.
Lato is warm because the curves of the semi-rounded letters are reflected in the overall design of the letters; however, his powerful structure means that he can be trusted implicitly and makes him seem rather serious.
