Futura Font designed by Bauer Type Foundry in 1928 is actually considered as the basis of Germany’s Constructivist movement within the Bauhaus movement. Paul Renner an American type designer, painter, author, and an educator made his first designs on the basic geometric shapes of triangles, circles and squares. Design office Bauer helped Renner in the process of transforming these geometric shapes into strong types of fonts such as Futura.
In the course of time Renner made modifications that made Futura fonts even simpler for his readers. Futura has long ascenders and descenders and this makes it utilize much of the spacing between lines so that it can accommodate long ascenders and descenders to the maximum. Due to the different styles and weights that are available, Futura family is very diverse and can be used in many applications.
